BluESP’s Operational Excellence in a digital world event went off with a BANG! Over 250 Delegates gathered on the 7 March 2019 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Rosebank for a full day of AspenTech’s ground breaking technology and leading industry innovation excellence. Our customers were wowed with outstanding presentations which demonstrated how these technological innovations can give their companies a leading edge and take them into the future. Speakers included international AspenTech experts, key customers, our own Tertius Zitzke and our experts from AccTech, and inspiring innovation public speakers who kept our audience entertained and attentive.

With technology being the theme of the day, the conference app was a big hit with customers as they actively engaged with the team throughout the day, and won some awesome prizes. Our CEO, Vincent Raseroka inspired the crowed with some wise words as he closed the event and invited everyone to cocktails on the porch. This was truly a conference to be remembered! Pieter Geldenhuys, one of the keynote speakers at the conference took delegates on an insightful journey with this topic of Business Unusual: New Opportunities in a hyper connected world. Pieter focussed on visions of the future and how we can use insights from today to create our own future.

Pieter focused on 5 key change dimensions:
• Velocity: Speed of finding the right connection (e.g. time to find a service.)
• Granularity: The size of a thing that is perceived to have individual value (e.g. CD vs. Single MP3).
• Concreteness: Degree to which value is based on physical (e.g. a car) or ’abstract (transport) things.
• Agency: Who or what initiates change and the degree of free to act of these.
• Density: (of the factors of production – land, labour, capital, information). Degree of which configura
tions of these may be optimally (unpacked).

Coenie Middel, founder of Middel and Partners, took us on a journey on how augmented reality is going to be a key technology in the world of Digital Transformation. A key takeaway from Coenie’s presentation was:

BluESP is AspenTech’s Global partner in the Metals, Mining and Manufacturing (MMM) Industries, For over a decade BluESP has been working with AspenTech to take their technology solutions into the local and international MMM industries. The Operational Excellence in a Digital World conference was a good example of the strong collaborative relationship between the two companies. Not only did AspenTech financially support the event but they also sent eight of their Senior VP’s to present and network with our customers. We are looking forward to growing our relationship with AspenTech and working on similar events in the near future.
